BAYRAK AND THE OTHER MILITARY RADIOS IN TURKISH CYPRIOT STRUGGLE HISTORY 1963-1974
Abstract
The Republic of Cyprus established under the guarantee of Turkey, Greece and the United Kingdom unfortunately doesn’t last long, and gets demolished in 21st December 1963 since the Archbishop Makarios takes the newly-established country into consideration to be a springing means on the way of Megali Idea and Enosis due to the Akritas Plan aiming to erase all the Turkish Cypriots on the island. Then the Turkish Cypriots once more comes face to face with the agony, tears, migration and a variety of the embargoes. Because the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation is under the control of the Greek Cypriots, the Turkish Cypriots make their voices hear not only on the island but also abroad, and manage to establish firstly the Bayrak Radio, then the others on the island. This scientific study will mainly focus on the Turkish Cypriot radio stations served in 1963-1974 period.
