The aim of this study is to reveal the perceptions of nursing students about the concept of death through metaphors. The study conducted for this purpose is a phenomenology which is designed based on the qualitative research paradigm. The study group consisted of students studying in the nursing department of a faculty. The study was completed with 63 students. Nursing students were asked to complete a prompt “Death is like …........... because ......................................”. Content analysis was used to analyze metaphors. 58.7% of the students are women and 84.1% are first-year students. Students produced 46 differ-ent metaphors related to the concept of death. The metaphors produced by nursing students regarding the concept of death are grouped into four categories as “beginning”, “end”, “eternity” and “mystery. In this study, the concept of death was defined as a situation between “end” and “beginning”. It is recommended that further studies are conducted to examine the perceptions of nursing students about the concept of death.
