This paper will focus on Mardin, Turkey to analyse the relation between sociocultural boundaries and ethnic identities. Boundaries which separate communities from each other have been used as an analytical tool in socio-anthropological analyses. This paper tries to find out that there is a relation between the dimensions of the boundary and the construction of ethnic identities in a diverse area. In addition to this, it examines that socio-cultural boundaries can not only make the differences between ethnic identities apparent but also they can occasionally bring different ethnic groups together under the same roof
