Evaluation Of Laboratory Parameters İn Diabetic Patients During The Covid-19 Pandemic

Year 2025, Volume: 17 Issue: 2, 51 - 60, 26.08.2025

Abstract

Our study aimed to investigate the effects of the pandemic on the glycemic, metabolic and anthropometric values of patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. Patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus (DM) who applied to the outpatient clinics of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Hospital between April 2020 and April 2021 were included in our study. A total of 306 patients with diabetes mellitus, 220 female (71.9%) and 86 male (28.1%), who applied to the outpatient clinics of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Hospital were included in the study. The mean HbA1c values of the patients decreased from 7.6±2.1% to 7.4±1.9%; the mean fasting plasma glucose (FPG) values decreased from 160.1±79.7 mg/dl to 151.2±68.6 mg/dl during the pandemic period ((p=0.004), (p=0.025)). The mean LDL values of the patients during the pandemic period decreased from 133.9±41.6 mg/dl to 126.6±40mg/dl; the mean total cholesterol value decreased from 216.6±46.2mg/dl to 209.2±46.7 mg/dl ((p<0.001), (p=0.001)). The mean BMI values of the patients during the pandemic period increased from 32.5 kg/m² to 32.7 kg/m². (p>0.05). Our study found an improvement in glycemic parameters (HbA1c and FPG) and lipid parameters (LDL and total cholesterol) and an increase in anthropometric measurements in patients diagnosed with DM during the pandemic period. Our study found an improvement in glycemic parameters (HbA1c and FPG) and lipid parameters (LDL and total cholesterol) and an increase in anthropometric measurements in patients diagnosed with DM during the pandemic period.

Covid-19 Pandemisinde Diyabet Hastalarında Laboratuvar Parametrelerinin Değerlendirilmesi

Year 2025, Volume: 17 Issue: 2, 51 - 60, 26.08.2025

Abstract

Çalışmamızda pandeminin, diyabetes mellitus tanılı hastaların glisemik, metabolik ve antropometrik değerlerine olan etkisini incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmamıza Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa Üniversite Hastanesi polikliniklerine Nisan 2020 – Nisan 2021 tarihleri arasında başvurmuş diyabetes mellitus (DM) tanılı hastalar dahil edilmiştir. Çalışmaya Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa Üniversite Hastanesi polikliniklerine başvuran 220 kadın (%71,9), 86 erkek (%28,1) toplam 306 diyabetes mellitus tanılı hasta alındı. Hastaların pandemi döneminde HbA1c değerlerinin ortalaması %7,6±2,1’den %7,4±1,9’e; açlık plazma glukozu (APG) değerlerinin ortalaması ise 160,1±79,7 mg/dl’den 151,2±68,6 mg/dl’e düşmüştür ((p=0,004), (p=0,025)). Hastaların pandemi döneminde LDL değerlerinin ortalaması 133,9±41,6 mg/dl’den 126,6±40mg/dl’e; total kolesterol değer ortalaması 216,6±46,2mg/dl’den 209,2±46,7 mg/dl’e azalmıştır ((p<0,001), (p=0,001)). Hastaların pandemi döneminde ortalama VKİ değerleri 32,5 kg/m²’den 32,7 kg/m²’e artmıştır. (p>0,05).
