Abstract
The main purpose of the study is to contribute to literature about the effect of individuals' religious orientation levels on their financial attitudes and behaviors. In the literature review, very few studies have been found regarding the relationship of religion with financial behavior. For this purpose, in order to contribute to the literature, the research was conducted on a sample of 395 people consisting of different ages, education, religion and income levels. 388 of those participating in the survey with the data collection method conducted over the internet were evaluated. SPSS was used for data analysis, explanatory factor analysis and reliability analysis of scales, and LISREL 8.7 program was used for confirmatory factor analysis. T test, One Way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis and linear regression were used to test the hypotheses of the research. According to the analysis outcomes, religious orientations of individuals living in Turkey is high and religious orientation have effects on the financial behavior. The conclusion shows that one of the factors affecting the financial behavior of individuals in Turkey is religious orientation. Determining the factors affecting the financial attitudes and behaviors of individuals will be beneficial in terms of designing nudge policies that can be applied to regulate financial decisions and increase awareness in this field. Thus, it will be possible to improve financial attitudes and behaviours of the next generations.
