How to Read Kutadgu Bilig in a Sufi Way? Yusuf Has Hajib, while not ignoring the influence of the pre-Islamic period, established a new beginning in Turkish Sufi life in Kutadgu Bilig around the character of Odgurmış, a mystic who shut himself away from the world. He changed mysticism from being a personal experience and opened the horizon of the people of Turkistan in parallel with the Islamization process. We can find the genuine framework of Turkish Sufi concepts in this classic of Turkish thought that has deepened and expanded the way forged by the ascetics zahids . The author argues in this article that the more Turkish studies acquainted with Kutadgu Bilig, the more they will deepen understanding about historical dynamics of Turkish culture
