Abstract

This is an exhaustively documented and brilliantly conducted analysis of the American Jewish evaluation and employment of the Holocaust in which Peter Novick, American Jewish historian, discovers the transformation of the destruction of European Jewry from an 'historical event' into a 'sacred myth' and a 'religious dogma'.
