Kamu Örgütlerinde Girişimcilik

Year 2012, Volume: 14 Issue: 4, 151 - 170, 01.12.2012

Abstract

Entrepreneurship in the Public Organizations

Year 2012, Volume: 14 Issue: 4, 151 - 170, 01.12.2012

Abstract

The studies focused on entrepreneurship process at private sector organizations often make use of an approach including risk taking, innovation, and proactiveness dimensions of entrepreneurship. Emphasizing its different aspects from the private sector practices, entrepreneurship has been the subject of in-depth studies of public administration literature last thirty years. Although there is a need for a unique entrepreneurship approach for public sector organizations based on their structural, managerial, and cultural aspects, it seems that there is no common entrepreneurship perspective developed by public administration scholars. In the light of pertaining literature, this study explores applicability of risk taking, innovation, and proactiveness dimensions of entrepreneurship to the public organizations with their structural, managerial, and cultural characteristics while providing useful assessments to Turkish public management scholars and practitioners.
