Ev İçi Teknolojileri ve Toplumsal Cinsiyet

Abstract

Teknolojinin, yaşamın her alanında büyük etkilere sahip olduğu yadsınamaz bir gerçekliktir. Bu etkilerin toplumsal ilişkiler sistemi içinde nasıl kurgulandığı ise üzerinde dikkatle düşünülmesi gereken bir sorudur. Bu çalışmanın amacı, teknoloji ve toplumsal cinsiyet ilişkilerini, ev içi teknolojilerin gelişimi örneğinde inceleyerek, ev içi teknolojilerin toplumsal cinsiyetçi rolleri yeniden üretip, üretmediğini, bu konudaki yaklaşımlar ve yapılan araştırmalar temelinde, ortaya çıkarmaktır. Toplumsal cinsiyet ve teknoloji ilişkilerini konu alan teorik yaklaşımlar, ev içi teknolojilerin geleneksel cinsiyetçi roller çerçevesinde, sosyal olarak belirlendiğini ileri sürmektedir. Bu alana yönelik yapılan çalışmalar, söz konusu teknolojilerin toplumsal cinsiyetçi rolleri yeniden ürettiğini ve nadir olarak kadınların ücretsiz ev içi çalışma zamanını azalttığını göstermektedir.

Abstract

Technology has profound effects on the every aspect of social life. It is necessary to think that how these effects are constructed in social relations system. This study is aimed at exploring the relations between technology and gender concerning with development of domestic technology. It also tries to explore whether domestic technology reproduce gender roles or not based on the perspectives and case studies focused on gender-technology relations. These approaches claim that technology is shaped by socially in the framework of traditional gender roles. The case studies focused on this issue show that domestic technology reproduces gender roles in domestic space and rarely reduces women’s unpaid domestic working time
