Abstract
Hemangioma is the most common benign head and neck vascular tumor. Within the first year of life they show rapid growth by endothelial cell hyperplasia followed by spontaneous involution. These tumors are more common in females (6:1). Even though hemangiomas are the most common soft tissue tumors of the head and neck, they are rarely seen in the oral cavity. Hemangiomas localized in the tongue present with recurrent bleeding, pain, difficulty in breathing as a result of enlarged tongue, difficulty in mastication, swallowing and speaking. Pharmacologic and surgical protocols have been defined for the treatment of hemangiomas. In this study a case of a 16 year old female patient with a hemangioma at the inferior surface of the tongue showing different variations of size within a very short time is discussed. The lesion was removed using plasma knife technique. Plasma knife is a safe and appropriate method for the excision of superficial benign vascular tumors of the tongue

Abstract
Hemanjiyom en sık baş boyun bölgesinde görülen lokalize benign vasküler bir tümördür. Klinik olarak hemanjiyomlar hayatın ilk yılında
endotelyal hücre hiperplazisiyle hızla büyürler ve spontan olarak küçülürler. Kızlarda erkeklerden 6 kat fazla görülür. Hemanjiyomlar baş boyun
bölgesinde en fazla görünen yumuşak doku tümörlerinden olsa da oral kavitede nadir görülür. Dilde lokalize hemanjiyomlar tekrarlayan
kanamalara, ağrıya, dilin büyümesine bağlı nefes almada güçlüğe, çiğneme, yutma ile konuşma zorluklarına neden olabilir. Hemanjiyomların
tedavisinde farmakolojik ve cerrahi tedaviyi içine alan birçok tedavi seçeneği tanımlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada, 16 yaşında, dilin serbest inferior
kenarında kısa sürede ciddi boyut değişikliği gösteren hemanjiyomu olan bayan hasta, literatür gözden geçirilerek sunuldu. Tedavide plazma
knife cerrahi yöntemi ile lezyon çıkartıldı. Dilin lokalize ve yüzeyel benign vasküler tümörlerinde plasma knife ile eksizyon güvenilir ve uygun
bir metottur.
