EVALUATION OF MACROECONOMIC PERFORMANCE OF G7 COUNTRIES WITH CRITIC AND MAIRCA METHODS

Abstract

The aim of this study is to compare macroeconomic performances of developed countries known as G7 countries for the period of 2010–2018. In performance evaluation, real per capita gross domestic product, economic growth, investment rate, trade, current account balance, budget balance, public debt, unemployment rate and inflation rate are taken as criteria. In the study, firstly, the criteria with the highest importance are determined by using the CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation) method, and then the macroeconomic performances of the countries are ranked by applying the MAIRCA (Multi Atributive Ideal-Real Comparative Analysis) method. The results of the analysis show that the country with the highest macroeconomic performance among the analyzed countries is the United States and the country with the lowest performance is Italy.

CRITIC VE MAIRCA YÖNTEMLERİYLE G7 ÜLKELERİNİN MAKROEKONOMİK PERFORMANSININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı 2010-2018 yılları arasında G7 ülkeleri olarak bilinen gelişmiş ülkelerin makroekonomik performanslarının karşılaştırılmasıdır. Performans değerlendirmesinde kriter olarak reel kişi başına gayrisafi yurt içi hasıla, ekonomik büyüme, yatırım oranı, dış ticaret, cari işlemler dengesi, bütçe dengesi, kamu borcu, işsizlik oranı ve enflasyon oranı esas alınmıştır. Çalışmada öncelikle CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation) yöntemi kullanılarak yıllar itibariyle önem ağırlığı en yüksek kriterler belirlenmiş, daha sonra MAIRCA (Multi Atributive Ideal-Real Comparative Analysis) yöntemi uygulanarak ülkelerin makroekonomik performansları sıralanmıştır. Analiz sonuçları, incelenen ülkeler arasında en yüksek makroekonomik performansı gösteren ülkenin Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, en düşük performans gösteren ülkenin ise İtalya olduğunu göstermektedir.
