Abstract

Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Sema Dinç’in Bursalı Bestekâr Ûdî Burhan Durucu, Hayatı ve Eserleri adlı eseri, Burhan Durucu’nun sanat hayatını, besteciliğini ve eğitimcilik yönünü ele alan kapsamlı bir çalışmadır. Üç bölümden oluşan kitapta, Durucu’nun hayatı, besteleri ve özellikleri incelenmiştir. 131 sözlü ve saz eserlerinden 103’ünün TRT repertuvarına girmesi, bestelerinin niteliğini gösterir. Bursa’daki gezek kültürüyle olan bağı, müzik hayatını şekillendirmiştir. Dinç, Durucu’yu yalnızca bir bestekâr değil, bir kültür taşıyıcısı olarak da ele almıştır. Kitap, Türk mûsikîsiyle ilgilenenler için önemli bir kaynaktır.

Sema Dinç, “The Life and Works of the Composer and Oudist Burhan Durucu from Bursa”

Abstract

Assistant proffesor Dr. Sema Dinç’s monograph Bursalı Bestekâr Ûdî Burhan Durucu, Hayatı ve Eserleri (The Life and Works of Burhan Durucu, Composer and Oud Player from Bursa) is a comprehensive study Durucu’s artistic life, compositional oeuvre, and his pedagogical contributions. Divided into three sections, the book meticulously analyzeshis biography, musical works, and stylistic features. Notably, 103 of his 131 vocal and instrumental compositions have been archived in the TRT (Turkish Radio and Television) repertoire, a testament to their enduring artistic value. Durucu’s musical identity was profoundly shaped by Bursa’s gezek culture—a traditional social and musical gathering unique to the region. Dinç positions Durucu not merely as a composer but as a cultural custodian, underscoring his role in preserving and transmitting Turkey’s musical heritage. This book serves as a valuable resource for those interested in Turkish classical music.
