The Tradition In Poetry From The Perspective Of Tugrul Tanyol

Tuğrul Tanyol pointed out where the accumulation of the Turkish poetry, which faced away from his bed by the article "The Problem of Tradition in Poetry" he wrote about two years before his first book of poetry. The purpose of this study is to shed light on the change in tradition established through the views of Tuğrul Tanyol. Acording to Tanyol, Divan poetry and Folk poetry tradition that preceded the modern Turkish poetry that started after the Tanzimat period, are important. However, he states that the tradition of the two poems can not reach a synthesis like the ones in the West. Although the conditions that prevented this synthesis in the Ottoman period were relatively removed in the Republic period, the situation developed in favor of folk poetry. Tanyol states that tradition in poetry is primarily a matter of language, and therefore, above all, tradition imposes itself on the artist. Tanyol, however, reveals that the use of tradition is not to formally imitate the past, but that poetry will become profound if it is based on the saying, that is, on the basis of style. In this study, Tanyol's views on tradition are not given only. İt also mentioned that how poetry has benefited from tradition.

Tuğrul Tanyol, ilk şiir kitabı çıkmadan yaklaşık iki yıl önce yazdığı “Şiirde Gelenek Sorunu” makalesiyle yatağından uzaklaşmakla karşı karşıya kalan Türk şiirinin birikiminin nerede olduğuna işaret etmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Tuğrul Tanyol’un görüşleri üzerinden gelenekle kurulan ilişkinin değişimine ışık tutmaktır. Tanyol, modern Türk şiirinin oluşmaya başladığı Tanzimat Dönemi’nden çok önceleri oluşmuş Divan şiiri ile Halk şiiri geleneğimizi önemser. Ancak bu iki şiir geleneğinin Batı’daki örnekleri gibi bir senteze ulaşamadığını belirtir. Osmanlı dönemi içinde bu sentezi engelleyen koşullar nispeten Cumhuriyet’le ortadan kalkmışsa da gelinen noktada durum Halk şiiri lehine gelişmiştir. Şiirde geleneğin öncelikle bir dil meselesi olduğunu, dolayısıyla her şeyden önce geleneğin kendisini sanatçıya dayattığını ifade eden Tanyol, gelenekten yararlanmanın, geçmişi biçimsel olarak taklit etmek olmadığını, söyleyiş yani üslup temelinde geleneğe yaslanılınca şiirin derinlik kazanacağını fikrini ortaya koyar. Bu çalışmada, Tanyol’un sadece gelenek ile ilgili görüşlerine yer verilmemiştir. Aynı zamanda yazmış olduğu şiirler içinde gelenekten nasıl yararlandığına da değinilmiştir.
