Investigation of Secondary Education Students’ Attitudes towards Physical Education Teaching Profession
Abstract
The aim of the research is to determine the attitudes of secondary education students towards physical education teaching profession. 235 voluntary students participated. Scanning method was used and "Personal Information Form" and "Attitude Scale for Physical Education Teaching Profession in Secondary Education" were used in the data collection process. Frequency (f), percentage (%), weighted average (X̅), standard deviation (SD), independent t-test, ANOVA and Tukey test techniques were used in the analysis. While the variables of gender, class levels and education level of father did not differ significantly, variables of participation in sportive activities and education level of the mother showed a significant difference. The averages of the students participating in sports activities in the scale and sub-dimensions are higher than the average of the students not participating. The highest average in the scale and in the sub-dimensions is in students whose mothers are secondary school graduates.
