Perceived Marital Problem-Solving Skills and Marital Satisfaction

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the
variables that affect the perceived problem-solving
skills in marriage and
marital satisfaction. The study group consisted of 187 married individuals. The
data were collected by the Marital Life Scale and Marital Problem-Solving
Scale. Multiple regression analysis and stepwise regression analysis were
performed to determine variables that predict marital satisfaction. According
to the findings, the variables of problem solving skills, marriage duration and
perceived economic situation have predictive effects on marital satisfaction.
As a result of path analysis to test the generated models, there was no
meaningful model for the effect of problem solving skills on marital
satisfaction, whereas the model for the effect of marital satisfaction on
problem solving skills revealed good fit indices. It has been determined that
marital satisfaction affects marital problem-solving skills.

Evlilikte Algılanan Sorun Çözme Becerileri ve Evlilik Doyumu

Abstract

Bu araştırma evlilikte algılanan sorun
çözme becerilerini ve evlilik doyumunu etkileyen değişkenleri belirlemek
amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 187 evli birey
oluşturmaktadır. Veriler Evlilik Yaşamı Ölçeği ve Evlilikte Sorun Çözme Ölçeği ile
toplanmıştır. Evlilik doyumunu yordayan değişkenleri belirlemek için çoklu
regresyon ve adımsal regresyon analizi yapılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre
evli bireylerin evlilik doyumlarını sırasıyla “evlilikte sorun çözme,  evlilik süresi ve ekonomik durum”
değişkenlerinin anlamlı olarak yordadığı belirlenmiştir. Oluşturulan modelleri
test etmek için yapılan yol analizi sonucunda ise sorun çözme becerilerinin
evlilik doyumuna etkisine ilişkin model anlamlı bulunmamış; evlilik doyumunun sorun
çözme becerilerine etkisini içeren model ise iyi uyum göstermiştir. Bu
doğrultuda evlilik doyumunun evlilikte sorun çözme becerilerini etkilediği belirlenmiştir.
