Author Guidelines
Journal of the Human and Social Science Researches (e-ISSN: 2147-1185)
Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
1. Article Title
The title of the manuscript should accurately reflect the content of the study, be concise and informative, and be written in bold font. Major words should begin with capital letters.
2. Author Information
To ensure a double-blind peer review process, author names and affiliations must not appear in the manuscript file submitted for review.
Author information must be entered separately into the journal submission system as follows:
- Full name and surname
- Institutional affiliation (Turkish and English)
- E-mail address
- ORCID ID
Articles may have a maximum of three authors. For studies produced within the scope of officially documented TÜBİTAK or BAP projects, up to five authors may be accepted.
3. Abstract
Each manuscript must include an abstract in both Turkish and English.
The abstract should:
- Clearly state the purpose, scope, method, and findings of the study
- Contain between 250 and 300 words
- Be written as a single paragraph
- Not include references, tables, figures, abbreviations, or citations
4. Copyright Form
The Copyright Agreement Form must be signed and uploaded to the system in PDF format.
If authors are affiliated with different institutions, separate signature pages may be submitted; however, all signed pages must be merged into a single PDF file before upload.
Authors retain copyright of their published work. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
5. Keywords
Each manuscript must include 5 to 7 keywords immediately below the abstract.
Keywords should:
- Reflect the main subject of the study
- Be separated by commas
- Begin with capital letters where grammatically appropriate
6. Manuscript Format
The full manuscript, including references, appendices, tables, and figures, should not exceed 9,000 words or approximately 35 journal pages.
Formatting requirements:
- Paper size: A4
- Font: Palatino Linotype
- Main text font size: 9 pt
- Line spacing: At least 12 nk / single spacing equivalent
- Margins:
- Top: 1.85 cm
- Bottom: 1.20 cm
- Left: 1.80 cm
- Right: 1.80 cm
- Justified text alignment
- No automatic hyphenation
Authors are encouraged to use the official journal template before submission.
7. Headings
Main headings, subheadings, and lower-level headings may be used where necessary.
Headings should:
- Be clear and consistent
- Reflect the structure of the manuscript
- Use title case capitalization
8. Tables and Figures
All tables and figures must:
- Be numbered consecutively
- Include descriptive titles/captions
- Be cited in the text
- Fit within page dimensions
Recommended maximum size: 12 × 17 cm
Smaller font sizes and single spacing may be used within tables and figures when necessary.
9. Images
Images must be submitted in high-resolution print quality.
The total space occupied by tables, figures, and images should not exceed 10 pages (approximately one-third of the manuscript).
Authors may embed images directly into the manuscript if they are publication-ready.
10. Quotations and References
The journal uses the APA citation style for in-text citations and references. References originally written in non-Latin scripts must be transliterated into the Latin alphabet in accordance with APA style.

Direct Quotations
- Short quotations (fewer than 3 lines) should appear within the text in quotation marks.
- Longer quotations should be formatted as block quotations with left and right indentation.
- Page numbers must be provided for all direct quotations.
Indirect Quotations / Paraphrases
Page numbers are recommended where appropriate.
Footnotes and endnotes should be kept to a minimum and used only when necessary for explanatory purposes.
11. Editorial and Review Process
All submitted manuscripts undergo the following stages:
- Preliminary technical review
- Editorial review
- Similarity / plagiarism screening
- Ethics compliance review
- Double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers
- Language review (Turkish / English where necessary)
Manuscripts that fail to meet submission requirements may be returned to authors for correction.
The final publication decision is made by the Editorial Board.
12. Ethics Committee Approval
For studies requiring ethics committee approval (such as surveys, interviews, experiments, or research involving human participants), authors must obtain official ethics approval before submission.
The manuscript must clearly state:
- Name of the ethics committee
- Approval date
- Approval number
This information should appear in the method section and/or on the first or final page of the manuscript.
For studies involving participants, authors must also confirm that informed consent was obtained where required.
The journal follows the ethical principles and best practices of COPE.
