Abstract
Hans-Georg Gadamer is one of the leading philosophers of
20th century Continental Philosophy. As an efficient philosopher of
hermeneutics, he has a strict rela-tion with Greek thought/philosophy which
formed his hermeneutic approach and both his relation and the effect of this
relation on his philosophy can be revealed by his many work on this subject.
This translated short text has two importance: Although it is a radio lecture
it is the opening essay in the volume 6 of Gesammelte Werke and it is selected
by Gadamer himself as one of the 16 essays included in Ga-damer Lesebuch which
is a collection for the general readers.

Abstract
Hans-Georg Gadamer 20. yüzyıl Kıta felsefesi geleneği içerisindeki
önemli düşünürlerden biridir. Hermeneutiğin etkili düşünürlerinden olan
Gadamer’in Grek düşüncesi/felsefesi ile sıkı bir ilişkisi olduğu ve bu
ilişkinin onun hermeneutik yaklaşımını biçimlendirdiği bu alanda yaptığı pek
çok çalışma ve konuşmasından anlaşılmaktadır. Çevirisini sunduğumuz kısa metin
iki açıdan önemli görünmektedir. Birinci olarak her ne kadar bir radyo programı
konuşması olsa da Gadamer’in Almanca yayınlanan Gesammelte Werke içerisindeki
altıncı ciltteki açılış metni olmasından, ikinci olarak ise genel okuyucular
için hazırlanan Gadamer Lesebuch içerisindeki onaltı kısa metinden biri olarak
Gadamer tarafından seçilmiş olmasından kaynaklanmaktadır.
