Abstract

Bu çalışmada Eski Yunan’da tarih düşüncesinin gelişme sürecinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, tarih terimine yüklenen anlamlar; Eski Yunan’da toplumsal sınıflaşma, çok tanrılı din anlayışı gibi bazı toplumsal ve kültürel özelliklerin tarih düşüncesine yansımaları; ilk tarihçilik örnekleri olarak gösterilen ozanların anlatıları ve gerçek anlamda bilimsel tarihçilik örneği olarak kabul edilen Herodotos ve Thukydides’in tarih düşünceleri ele alınmıştır.

The Idea of History in Ancient Greek

Abstract

It has been aimed in this study to investigate the development process of the idea of history in Ancient Greek. In accordance with this purpose, the meanings of history; reflection of some social and cultural properties like social classifications, the sense of polytheistic religionon the idea of history in Ancient Greek; the stories of poets which are pointed to the first instances of historiography; and the idea of history of Herodotus and Thukydides that are admitted as first instances of scientific historiography have been discussed.
