REEL KUR DEĞIŞIMLERININ DIŞ TICARET DENGESINE OLAN ETKISINI DEĞERLENDIRMEDE GÜNCEL BIR YAKLAŞIM: S-EĞRISI HIPOTEZI

Abstract

Backus ve diğerleri (1994) çalışmalarında kısa dönemde ticaret dengesinin devalüasyon öncesi ve sonrası döviz kurundaki değişimlere verdiği tepkileri gösteren yeni bir yaklaşımı, S-eğrisi hipotezini tanıtmışlardır. Bu hipotez temel olarak ticaret dengesi ile ticaret hadleri ya da reel döviz kuru arasındaki çapraz korelasyona dayanmaktadır. Bu yaklaşıma göre cari kur ile gelecek dönem ticaret dengesi arasındaki çapraz korelasyon ilişkisi pozitif olabilirken; geçmiş dönem ticaret dengesi ile bu ilişki negatif olabilir. Çalış­ mamızda S-eğrisi hipotezi ile ilgili varolan literatür tanıtılmıştır. Amacımız gelecek çalışmalar hakkında bir öngörüye sahip olmaktır.
