LEFT UPPER LOBAR AGENESIS OF THE LUNG WITH MULTIPLE BONE ANOMALIES IN AN ADULT

Abstract

Left upper lobe agenesis of the lung is a very rare condition that is usually asymptomatic and is therefore not diagnosed until adulthood. The pathogenesis of lung underdevelopment is unclear. It is associated with the absence of the lung parenchyma, bronchial tree, and pulmonary vasculature. Cardiovascular, genitourinary, and musculoskeletal abnormalities may be present. To the best of our knowledge, musculoskeletal anomalies have rarely been described in the case reports published in the literature, which makes our case distinctive in this regard. Recognition of such coexistence in radiological assessments may contribute to the identification of underlying syndromic conditions. Radiology plays an important role in determining the diagnosis and treatment method. Here, we present a 22year old male patient with pulmonary agenesis and multiple bone anomalies detected on chest radiography performed as part of routine health screening.

YETİŞKİN BİR HASTADA MULTİPL KEMİK ANOMALİLERİNİN EŞLİK ETTİĞİ SOL AKCİĞER ÜST LOB AGENEZİSİ

Abstract

Sol akciğer üst lob agenezi genellikle asemptomatik olan ve bu nedenle erişkinliğe kadar teşhis edilemeyen çok nadir bir durumdur. Akciğer gelişim anomalilerinin patogenezi belirsiz olup parankim, bronşiyal ağaç ve pulmoner damar sisteminin yokluğu ile ilişkilidir. Kardiyovasküler, genitoüriner ve kas iskelet sistemi anormallikleri eşlik edebilir. Bildiğimiz kadarıyla literatürde bahsedilen vaka raporlarında kas iskelet anomalileri nadiren tanımlanmamış olup vakamız bu açıdan öne çıkmaktadır. Bu birlikteliğin radyolojik değerlendirmelerde tanınması altta yatan sendromik durumların tanımlanmasına katkıda bulunabilir. Radyoloji, tanıda ve tedavi yönteminin belirlenmesinde önemli bir rol oynar. Burada, rutin sağlık taramasının bir parçası olarak yapılan göğüs radyografisinde tespit edilen pulmoner agenezi ve çoklu kemik anomalileri olan 22 yaşında bir erkek hastayı sunuyoruz.
