TÜRKİYE - YUNANİSTAN DOĞALGAZ HATTI BAKIM ÇALIŞMALARI İÇİN YAPILAN DERİN DALIŞLARIN MEDİKAL ANALİZİ

Abstract

Amaç: Güney Avrupa Gaz ringinin bir parçasını oluşturan Türkiye - Yunanistan Doğalgaz Boru Hattı 297 km uzunluğunda olup, 17 kilometrelik bölümü sualtındadır. Boru hattının periyodik bakımları yapılmakta olup sualtındaki bakım derin dalış operasyonları içermektedir. Çalışmamızda, bu özellikli operasyonun medikal açıdan değerlendirmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Dalışlar RV DERİNSU gemisinde Deep Offshore firmasınca yapılmıştır. Dalışlarda altı profesyonel dalgıç görev almıştır. Dalışlar sırasında hava ve helyum-oksijen gaz karışımları kullanılmıştır. Bir basınç odasının hazır bekletildiği dalış operasyonlarına fakültemiz tarafından tıbbi danışmanlık hizmeti verilmiştir. Bulgular: 45’i hava, 35’i helyum-oksijen karışımı ile 58,7 metreye kadar varan toplam 80 dalış yapılmış; 2 orta kulak sıkışması, bir frontal sinüs sıkışması ve bir nitrojen narkozu olgusu dışında dalışa bağlı herhangi bir kaza veya hastalık gelişmemiştir. Sonuç: İyi planlanmış, uygun donanım kullanarak ve güvenli dalış kurallarına uygun olarak yapılan dalışlarda olası kaza ve hastalık riskleri ortadan kaldırılabilir. Benzer operasyonlar ülkemizde nadir yapılmakta olup, konuyla ilgili tıbbi referans oluşturması açısından çalışma önem taşımaktadır.

MEDICAL ANALYSIS OF THE DEEP DIVES PERFORMED DURING TURKEY - GREECE NATURAL GAS PIPELINE MAINTENANCE

Abstract

Objective: The Turkey - Greece Natural Gas Pipeline which is a part of the Southern Europe Gas Corridor is 297 km long - 17 kilometers of which is under the Marmara Sea. Maintenance of and repairs to the pipeline are carried out regularly. Underwater maintenance and repair necessitate deep diving operations. The object of this study is to analyze this remarkable diving operation from a medical perspective. Material and Method: The diving operation was performed by the company Deep Offshore using the RV DERINSU boat. Six professional divers worked in the Project. Air and Helium-oxygen mixtures appropriate to diving depth were used for breathing gas and a multiplace chamber was kept on the boat. Medical support was provided by the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. Results: A total of 80 dives of depths up to 58.7 meters were performed. Forty-five were air dives and the rest were performed with helium-oxygen mixtures. There were two cases of middle ear barotrauma, one case of frontal sinus barotrauma and one case of nitrogen narcosis. No other diving related injury or disease was reported. Conclusion: The risk and prevalence of diving related injuries can be minimized by well-planned operations carried out in compliance with safe diving procedures using appropriate equipment. Deep diving operations are rare in our country so the present study may stand as a medical reference for the topic.
