Toplumsal Cinsiyet Bağlamında Odak Grup Görüşmesi ile Içerik Analizi: “Ben Senin Bildiğin Erkeklerden Değilim” Film Örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, toplumsal cinsiyet ve rolleri konusunun ayrıntılı bir biçimde irdelenmesi ve bu bağlamda görüşmecilerin ifade ettikleri fikirleri değerlendirmek ve yorumlamaktır. Bu çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda nitel çalışma uygun görülüp, odak grup görüşmesi yöntemi kullanılarak içerik analizi yapılması hedeflenmiştir. Bu doğrultuda “Ben Senin Bildiğin Erkeklerden Değilim” aldı toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin ve toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğinin yansıtılmaya çalışıldığı film seçilmiştir. Altı üniversite öğrencisine, çalışmanın konusuna uygun olarak seçilen filmin izlettirilmesinin ardından önceden belirlenen on iki adet soru yöneltilmesi amacıyla tek oturumluk odak grup görüşmesi yapılmıştır. Verilen yanıtların “Toplumsal Cinsiyet Rolleri”, “Cinsiyet Eşitliği” ve “Filme Dair Genel Değerlendirmeler” olmak üzere üç tema altında içerik analizi yapılmıştır. İçerik analizi sonucu üniversite öğrencilerinin duruş ve tutumları incelenip yorumlanmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular alanyazın ışığında sonuç kısmında karşılaştırma ve değerlendirmeye tabii tutulmuştur. Bu çalışmanın seçilmesindeki amaç, toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliği konusuna dikkat çekmek aynı zamanda alanyazın taramasında bu konu bağlamında nitel çalışmalara pek fazla yer verilmediğinin saptanmasıdır.

A Content Analysis With the Focus Group Interview Within the Context of Gender: A Case Study fort he Movie” I’m Not the Man You Know”

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the issue of gender and its roles in detail and to evaluate and interpret the opinions expressed by the interviewees in this context. For the purpose of this study, qualitative study was deemed appropriate and content analysis was aimed by using a focus group interview method. Accordingly, the movie “I Am Not The Man You Know”, in which I try to reflect gender roles and gender equality has been selected. A single-session interview with the focus group was held with six university students after watching the film to answer twelve pre-determined questions selected according to the subject of the study. Content analysis of the responses was carried out under three themes: “gender roles’ ‘, “gender equality” and “general evaluations about the film”. Depending on the results of the content analysis, the positions and attitudes of university students were examined and interpreted. The findings obtained from the study were subjected to comparison and evaluation in the conclusion part in the light of the literature. The aim of choosing this study is to draw attention to the issue of gender equality, as well as to find out that there is not a lot of qualitative studies in this field in the literature review.
