Funeral Transactions of Foreigners Who Die in Turkey
Abstract
Death is a complex incident studied by various branches of science, and shaped by many variables but mostly social-cultural factors in the community life; and which is not known when, how and for whom it will occur. In terms of law, what makes death important is that it terminates the real personality. However; the issue of forensic personality living more than the physical personality is controversial.Funeral services are accepted to be about the personal right creating a certain post-effect after death; and legislations regarding this at national and international levels are done diligently and tied to certain standards due to the respect for the deceased, the life he lived and the pain of his relatives. In this context, first, the death incident has to be reported, and then funeral services, which will be done as burial, cremation or transfer, are established. The main principle accepted about the execution of funeral services of the foreigners who decease in Turkey is that, no discrimination is done between the citizens and the foreigners by deliberating over these services within the notion of public services.
