Reşit Süreyya Gürsey’e göre Marcelin Berthelot

Abstract

Askeri bir hekim olan Dr. Reşit Gürsey (1889-1962), 1920li yıllarda aldığı radyoloji eğitimi sırasında, temel bilimlere duymuş, Paris’te M. Curie ve ve P. Langevin’in, Cambridge’de E. Rutherford ve J.J. Thomson’un derslerine girmiştir. Marcelin Berthelot’nun (1827-1907) doğumunun 100. Yıldönümü vesilesiyle, onun çalışması hakkındaki eleştrisini yazdığında, İstanbul’daki Kuleli Askeri Lisesi’nde fizik öğretmenidir. Akademik övgü çerçevesinde, Dr. Gürsey’in yazısı alışılmamış ve objektif bir deneme olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır

Abstract

Reşit Gürsey, M.D. (1889-1962) was a military physician who developed an interest in basic science during his radiology training in the 1920’s, and attended courses given by M. Curie ve P. Langevin in Paris, and later by E. Rutherford ve J. J. Thomson in Cambridge. He was the physics teacher of the Kuleli Military Academy in Istanbul when he published a critique of Marcelin Berthelot’s (1827-1907) work on the occasion of his centenary in 1927. In an academic climate of eulogy, Dr. Gürsey’s article stands out as a singular and objective essay.
