Plant collectors who have collected from a restricted area in Anatolia

Abstract

Among the plant collectors cited in Flora of Turkey (1965–2000) and
listed by Cullen et al. (1967), there are some who have visited only a restricted
area of the country. The present article deals with some of them. The
agronomist Ali Rıza Ertem (1887–1964), accompanied by Ivan Vladimirovič
Palibin (1872–1949), the director of the Botanical Garden Leningrad, collected
from Zonguldak in October 1918. Josef Andrasovszky (1889–1943) was in
Konya in Spring and Summer 1911. His collection contains one type specimen.
Franz Fleischer (1801–1878) herborized from January to September 1827 in
Izmir and collected 7 type specimens. Les Frères des Écoles Chrétiennes
collected from Ankara between 1906 and 1909 from April to August. They have
one type specimen in their collection. Hans Helbaek (1907–1981), the
archeobotanist, visited the antic ruins of Çatalhöyük (Konya) in 1962. He has
got one type specimen. Friedrich Hermann (1873–1967) explored in July 1927
the mount Istranca in European Turkey. He collected the type specimen of a
new Centaurea species and described it. Alfred Huet du Pavillon (1829–1907)
visited in May-August 1853 the region of Erzurum and added 63 new taxa to
the Turkish flora. E.Boissier named a new genus after him: Huetia Boiss. John
Kirk (1832–1922), a doctor in the British Military Hospital at Erenköy
(Çanakkale) during the Crimean War, collected from the region between
September 1855 and August 1856. He has visited Uludağ (Bursa) in June 1855.
He later became renown by his botanical and diplomatic activities in East
Africa. His name has been given to a new genus: Kirkia Oliver. Johann Nemetz
(1867–1938), during his stay in Istanbul between 1894 and 1897, collected from the region and from Uludağ. Franz Elfried Wimmer (1877–1950), when living
in Istanbul between 1905 and 1910, herborized in this area. Emmerich
Zederbauer (1877–1950), accompanied by Arnold Penther (1865–1931),
explored from May to July 1902 the mount Erciyas (Kayseri). His Anatolian
collection counts 17 type specimens.

Anadolu’nun dar bir yöresinden örnek toplamış bitki toplayıcıları

Abstract

Flora of Turkey’de (1965–2000) ve Cullen et al.’nin listesinde (1967) adı
geçen bitki toplayıcıları arasında, Anadolu’nun dar bir yöresinden örnek
toplamış olanlar da vardır. Bunlardan birkaçı bu makalede tanıtılmıştır. Ali Rıza
Ertem (1887–1964) bir ziraatçidir ve Leningrad Botanik Bahçesi direktörü olan
Ivan Vladimirovič Palibin (1872-1949) ile birlikte, Ekim 1918’de Zonguldak
yöresinden örnek toplamıştır. Josef Andrasovszky (1889–1943), 1911 yılının
ilkbahar ve yaz aylarında Konya bölgesinde gezmiştir. Koleksiyonunda bir
tipörnek vardır. Franz Fleischer (1801–1878), Ocak-Eylül 1827 aylarında
İzmir yöresini araştırmıştır. Örneklerinden 7’si tipörnektır. Les Frères des
Écoles Chrétiennes (Hıristiyan Okulları Frerleri), 1906–1909 yılları NisanAğustos
aylarında Ankara’dan toplamışlardır. Bir tipörnekleri vardır. Hans
Helbaek (1907–1981), Konya ilindeki Çatalhöyük antik harabelerinden 1962’de
örnek toplamıştır. Koleksiyonunda bir tipörnek vardır. Friedrich Hermann
(1873–1967), 1927 yazında 3 hafta Istranca dağlarında dolaşmış, yeni bir
Centaurea türü adlandırmıştır. Alfred Huet du Pavillon (1829–1907), 1853
yılının Mayıs-Ağustos aylarında, Erzurum ve yakınlarında araştırma yapmış,
Türkiye florasına 63 yeni takson kazandırmıştır. E.Boissier, yeni bir cinse onun
adını vermiştir: Huetıa Boiss. John Kirk (1832–1922), 1855–1856 yıllarında,
Çanakkale ilinin Erenköy mevkiinden örnek toplamıştır. Daha sonra Doğu
Afrika florası ile ilgilenmiştir. Buradan topladığı yeni bir türe istinaden, adı yeni
bir cinse verilmiştir: Kirkia Oliver. Johann Nemetz (1867–1938), 1894–1897
yıllarında İstanbul’dan ve Uludağ’dan (Bursa), Franz Elfried Wimmer (1877–
1950) de, 1905–1910 yıllarında gene İstanbul’dan örnek toplamışlardır.
Emmerich Zederbauer (1877–1950), Mayıs-Temmuz 1902’de, Arnold Penther
(1865–1931) ile birlikte Erciyas dağı’nda (Kayseri) araştırma yapmıştır.
Anadolu koleksiyonunda 17 tipörnek vardır.
