Abstract
Avrupa Birliği ülkeleri, özellikle 70'li yıllardan sonra, demografik açıdan önemli problemlerle karşı karşıyadır. Bu doğrultuda, Birlik'te çok düşük oranlarda nüfus artış hızı yaşanmakta, evlilikler ve bununla beraber doğum oranları düşmekte, bu da nüfusun giderek daha yaşlı bir nitelik kazanmasına neden olmaktadır. Boşanmaların, tek başına yaşama biçimlerinin ve evlilik dışı ilişkilerden doğan çocuk sayısının her geçen yıl artması da sosyal yapıyı tehdit eden diğer önemli demografik problemlerdir. Türkiye açısından ise, nüfus genç bir nitelik taşımakta ve demografik açıdan Avrupa Birliği'ne göre daha olumlu bir tablo ortaya çıkmaktadır.
