Abstract
Özet
İstanbul Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi küçük hayvan cerrahi kliniğine getirilen 12 köpek, 7 kedi olmak üzere toplam 19 olguda trochanter major kırığı belirlendi. Bu olguların 14'ünde trochanter major'un fizyal ayrılması, 5'inde de kırığı saptandı, beş olguya operasyon uygulanamadı. Büyümeleri devam eden 11 olguya ait fizyal ayrılma 2 Kirschner pin, büyümesi tamamlanmış ve kırık bulunan 3 olguda da 2 Steinmann pin ve gergin bant uygulaması ile tespit yapıldı. Olguların 8'inde herhangi bir sorun ile karşılaşılmazken, 2 olguda kompükasyon şekillendi. Ancak bu durum bacağın fonksiyonunu etkilemedi.

EVALUATION OF GREAT TROCHANTER FRACTURES IN DOGS AND CATS (1992-2002)
Summary
Great trochanter fractures were diagnosed in 12 dogs and 7 cats total 19 cases, which were brought Istanbul University Veterinary Faculty small animal surgery clinic. Physeal seperation of great trochanter encountered in 14 cases and fracture in 5. Operation have not been done to the other 5 cases. Two Kirschner wire were used in growing 11 cases for fixation and 2 Steinmann wire and tension band were used for fixation in fracture of mature 3 cases. 8 operated cases were recovered without problem, but complication were encounter in two cases. However this problem didn't affect function of leg.
