On June 21, 2025, we lost an amazing colleague and great friend, Gordon Marshall, whose passing was more than unexpected and untimely.
Gordon Marshall was born on May 24, 1973, in Sudbury, Ontario. He earned his BA degree in History from York University in 1996, his MA in History and Archival Administration from the University of Windsor in 1999, and his PhD in History from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2009. Following several years of holding different positions, such as education and exhibition assistant at Windsor’s Community Museum, assistant archivist at CIBC Archives, and education coordinator at Archives Association of Ontario, fate brought him to İstanbul, Turkey.
From 2006 to 2012, Gordon Marshall worked at Haliç University, İstanbul, in the Departments of American Culture and Literature and Translation and Interpretation. He, then, shifted to İstanbul Aydın University where he worked from 2012 to 2015. It was in 2015 that he joined us at the Department of American Culture and Literature at Başkent University, Ankara, where we worked together for two years.
