Renewable Energy Supported Electric Vehicle Charging Systems

Abstract

The need for electrical energy is increasing day by day. The reason for this increasing demand is that electrical energy can be easily converted to other forms of energy. Societies around the world are dependent on traditional sources such as coal, oil and natural gas for their energy needs. The use of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy reduces the dependency on fossil fuels. With the decrease in the use of fossil fuels, environmental pollution and carbon footprint are also reduced. On the other hand, electric vehicles are charged from grid-supported systems. Thanks to the energy obtained by the increase in the use of renewable energy sources, it will be possible to save on the energy needs of electric vehicle charging systems. During times when production based on renewable energy such as solar and wind energy is intense, excess energy can be stored in storage units. In this way, continuity of energy can be ensured and interruption of charging services of electric vehicles can be prevented. As a result, in this study; electric vehicle charging systems in which solar energy and wind energy from renewable energy sources can work in coordination are examined. Information is provided about national developments on electric vehicles and charging systems.
