Turkish Validity and Reliability Study of ‘The Children’s Trust in General Nurses Scale’

Abstract

Aim: This research was a methodological study aiming to prove the validity and reliability of the Children's Trust in General Nurses Scale (CTGNS) in Turkish language. Method: Our sample included a total of 221 students aged between 9 and 12 from 13 primary and secondary schools in the city center. An informed consent form and a family data collection form were sent to all families for data collection. The Turkish trust scale form and student data collection form were filled by the students. The content validity index was calculated, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value and Bartlett's test were examined, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were performed for construct validity. For reliability, Cronbach's Alpha value (α) from internal consistency analysis was checked. Results: The average age of the students was 10.35 ±0.97 years. The internal reliability Cronbach's Alpha value of the scale was found to be 0.72. The results of the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test and Bartlett's test were statistically significant. After the exploratory factor analysis, the scale was found to explain 56.76% of the total variance in 3 subscales. As confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the compatibility values of the scale were RMSEA=0.068, p<0.005, chi-square(χ2) =69.23. Conclusion: The study on the validity and reliability of ‘The Children's Trust in General Nurses Scale (CTGNS)’ in the Turkish language demonstrated that the scale is valid and reliable for use in Türkiye."

Abstract

Amaç: Bu araştırma, Türkçe dilinde 'Çocukların Hemşirelere Güven Ölçeği (CTGÖ) 'nin geçerlik ve güvenirliğini kanıtlamayı amaçlayan bir metodolojik çalışmadır. Yöntem: Örnekleme, şehir merkezindeki 13 ilkokul ve ortaokuldan, 9 ile 12 yaş arasındaki 221öğrenciyi içermektedir. Veri toplama amacıyla, aydınlatılmış onam formu ve aile veri toplama formu tüm ailelere gönderilmiştir. Güven ölçeği Türkçe formu ve öğrenci veri toplama formu ise öğrenciler tarafından doldurulmuştur. İçerik geçerlik indeksi hesaplanmış, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin değeri ve Bartlett testi incelenmiş ve yapı geçerliği için açımlayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizleri yapılmıştır. Güvenilirlik için iç tutarlılık analizinden Cronbach Alfa değeri (α) kontrol edilmiştir. Sonuçlar: Öğrencilerin ortalama yaşı 10.35 ± 0.97 yıl olarak bulunmuştur. Ölçeğin iç güvenilirlik Cronbach Alfa değeri 0.72 olarak bulunmuştur. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin testi ve Bartlett testi sonuçları istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur. Açımlayıcı faktör analizinden sonra, ölçeğin toplam varyansın %56.76'sını 3 alt ölçekte açıkladığı tespit edilmiştir. Doğrulayıcı faktör analizi, ölçeğin uyum değerlerinin RMSEA=0.068, p<0.005, ki-kare(χ2) =69.23 olduğunu göstermiştir. Sonuç: 'Çocukların Hemşirelere Güven Ölçeği' (CTGÖ) Türkçe geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışması, ölçeğin Türkiye'de kullanım için geçerli ve güvenilir olduğunu göstermiştir.
