A COMPARISON OF THE CITY LIFE QUALITY INDEX FOR EUROPEAN CITIES USING THE WASPAS AND VIKOR METHODS

Abstract

Purpose- The main purpose of this study was to compare the results of the city life quality index using the WASPAS and VIKOR methods, two of the multi-criteria decision-making methods. Methodology- For this, in the first stage, a decision matrix was created. In the second stage, the ranking results obtained from WASPAS and VIKOR methods were compared with each other. In the final stage, the results obtained from the methods were compared with the results of the life quality index ranking. Findings- When the findings were examined, there was a strong positive relationship between the methods used and the values obtained. Accordingly, there was a positive relationship between the WASPAS and VIKOR methods, demonstrating that the two methods can be used interchangeably. The same strong relationship was also valid for the life quality index. Conclusion- Accordingly, the life quality index calculations and the WASPAS and VIKOR calculations provided very similar results. The results were found to be statistically significant.
