Amyand’s hernia: Case report

Abstract

Acute appendicitis within hernia sac termed Amyand\'s hernia was described firstly by Claudius Amyand. It has been approximately found in 1 % of cases of inguinal hernias. In this study, we reported a 24 years old man diagnosed with inguinal hernia, which was found appendix vermiformis in the sac of hernia intraoperatively, the other name Amyand\'s hernia. Diagnosis of Amyand\'s hernia is difficult preoperatively and is a rare form of inguinal hernia. J Clin Exp Invest 2011; 2 (4): 446-448

Amyand hernisi: Olgu sunumu

Öz

Herni kesesi içinde akut apandisit ilk defa Claudius Amyand tarafından tanımlanmış olup Amyand hernisi olarak bilinir. Bütün kasık fıtığı olgularının yaklaşık % 1\'in de saptanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada 24 yaşında erkek inguinal herni tanısı ile intraoperatif herni kesesi içinde apendiks vermiformis bulunan Amyand hernisi olgumuzu sunduk. Amyand hernisi preoperatif tanısı zor olup nadir görülen bir inguinal herni şeklidir.
