Giant mesenteric lipoma caused abdominal pain: Report of two cases

Abstract

Mesenteric localization is rare in lipomas which are benign tumors of fat cells and they are generally asymptomatic. Herein, we aimed to report two cases with mesenteric lipoma presenting with abdominal pain and distention who were diagnosed by computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging features of lipomas are characteristic but not always specific. Pathological examination may be necessary to differentiate giant sized lipomas from malignant lesions, and imaging modalities provides great convenience for biopsy interventions. Surgical operation may be essential for symptomatic lipomas.

Karın ağrısına neden olan dev mezenterik lipom: iki olgu sunumu

Abstract

Matür yağ hücrelerinin benign tümörü olan lipomlar için mezenterik yerleşim nadirdir ve genellikle asemptomatiktir. Bu yazıda karın ağrısı ve karında şişkinlik şikayetleri ile başvuran iki hastada bilgisayarlı tomografi (BT) ve manyetik rezonans görüntüleme (MRG) ile tanısı konulan büyük boyutlu mezenterik lipom olgularını sunmayı amaçladık. Lipomların BT ve MRG özellikleri karakteristiktir ama her zaman spesifik değildir. Büyük boyuttaki lipomların malign lezyonlardan ayırıcı tanısının yapılabilmesi için patolojik değerlendirme gerekebilir ve görüntüleme yöntemleri biyopsi işlemleri için büyük kolaylık sağlamaktadır. Semptomatik lipomlar için cerrahi tedavi gerekebilmektedir.
