Bir yıllık sürede dışkı örneklerinde ELISA ile Entamoeba histolytica araştırılması

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmadaki amacımız; mikrobiyoloji laboratuvarına gönderilen dışkı örneklerinde ELISA yöntemi ile Entamoeba histolytica varlığının araştırılmasıdır. Gereç ve yöntem: Çalışmamıza; Ocak 2009 - Aralık 2009 tarihleri arasında Bismil Devlet Hastanesi mikrobiyoloji laboratuvarına gönderilen, farklı yaş gruplarındaki hastalara ait 800 dışkı örneği dahil edilmiştir. Bulgular: Nativ-lugol yöntemi ile incelenen 800 dışkı örneğinin 31\'inde (% 3.9) Entamoeba histolytica/dispar kist ve/veya trofozoitleri görülmüştür. Örneklerin tamamında ELISA yöntemi ile Entamoeba histolytica spesifik antijeni araştırılmıştır. Sadece 12 (% 1.5) dışkı örneğinde Entamoeba histolytica spesifik antijeninin varlığı tespit edilmiştir. Entamoeba histolytica spesifik antijeni saptanan olgulara uygun tedavi başlanmıştır. Sonuç: Entamoeba histolytica varlığı araştırılarak hastaların gereksiz tedavi almalarının önlenmelidir.

Investigation of Entamoeba histolytica in stool specimens by ELISA during a year

Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate Entamoeba histolytica in the stool samples that have been sent to microbiology laboratory by ELISA method. Materials and methods: This study was performed on 800 stool specimens belonging to different age groups and different patients sent to Microbiology Laboratory of a State Hospital between January 2009 and December 2009. Results: In this study Entamoeba histolytica/dispar cysts and/or trophozoites were observed in 31 (3.9%) out of a total of 800 stool specimens which were examined by native-lugol. Entamoeba histolytica specific antigen was investigated by ELISA in all stool specimens. Entamoeba histolytica specific antigen was detected in 12 (1.5%) of these stool specimens. The diagnosis of amoebiasis for the patients whose ELISA tests were “positive” and appropriate therapy was begun. Conclusion: Entamoeba histolytica in the stool samples should be investigated and unnecessary treatments should not given to patients.
