Abstract

Childhood Obesity and its Prevention

Year 2018, , 103 - 112, 01.10.2018

Abstract

The prevalence of obesity in childhood is increasing all over the world and The World Health Organization shows obesity as one of the most important public health prob- lems. Most of the obese children continue to be obese adults in their lives. Obesity causes type 2 diabetes melli- tus, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis and some cancers. Also obese children have low self- esteem and have some social problems. Treatment of obe- sity is not much effective once it develops, therefore com- munity- based preventive measures in early stages of life seem to be more important. In this review our aim is to look over the etiologic factors leading to childhood obesity and precautions to prevent its development
