Giresun İlindeki Ailelerin Sünnet Konusundaki Bilgi, Tutum ve Davranışları

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışma anne-babaların sünnet konusundaki bilgi, tutum ve davranışlarının saptanması amacıyla planlanmıştır. Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı kesitsel tipteki bu araştırmanın evrenini Giresun ilinde sünnet olan erkek çocuklar ve onların aileleri oluşturmuştur. Örneklem grubu, rastgele örneklem yöntemi ile seçilen Giresun ili merkez ilköğretim okullarındaki erkek n=473 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Veriler ailelere öğrenciler aracılığıyla ulaştırılan bir anket formu ile toplanmıştır. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin % 13.5’i 3 yaş altı, % 42.2’si 3-6 yaş arası ve % 44.3’ü altı yaş ve üzeri dönemde sünnet ettirilmiştir. Çocuklarını üç yaş altı dönemde sünnet ettirenlerin ailelerin büyük çoğunluğu gerekçe olarak sünnet yarasının daha çabuk iyileşeceğini, üç-altı yaş arası ile altı yaş ve üzeri dönemde sünnet ettirenler ise çocuğun korkmayacağını düşündükleri için bu yaş döneminde sünnet ettirmeyi tercih ettiklerini ifade etmişlerdir. Ailelerin % 42.9’u üç-altı yaş arasını, % 4.1’i ise doğumdan hemen sonrasını çocukların sünnet ettirilme yaşı için uygun dönem olarak belirtmiştir. Sonuç: Ailelerin erkek çocukların sünnet konusundaki bilgi tutum ve davranışlarında eksikliklerin olduğu belirlenmiştir.

The Knowledge, Behaviour and Attitude About of Circumcision in Families in Giresun

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study is to determine parents’ knowledge of circumcision and their behaviours and attitudes to it. Method: The children circumcised in the province of Giresun and their parents make up the population of this definitive or descriptive study of a cross-sectional type. The sampling group are included randomly selected male students n=473 in primary schools in the province of Giresun. The data obtained were collected through a questionaire delivered to parents by their children. Results: 13.5 % of the students were circumcised under the age of 3 and 42.2 % of them were circumcised between 3 and 6 years, whereas 44.3 % of them at the age 6 and over. The majority of the parents had their children circumcised under 3 years of age because they thought that the wound of circumcision would heal sooner. However, those who got their children circumcised between 3 and 6 years and over explained they did so because their children wouldn’t get frightened in that period. 42.9 % of parents explained that they considered the period between 3 and 6 years to be the most approriate period of circumcision though 4.1 % of parents viewed the period soon after the delivery as a suitable period for circumcision. Conclusion: It was found that parents knew little about circucision and their behaviours and attitudes to it were defective.
