Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) pineal bezden salgılanan ve triptofandan üretilen bir nörohümoral hormondur.
Eksojen formulasyonu uyku bozukluklarında ve Jet lag (insanda
24 saatlik biyolojik etkinlik çevriminin ani değişmeler nedeniyle
uğradığı geçici değişiklik ve düzensizlik) tedavisinde kullanılır.
Melatonin dünyada ve ülkemizde uyku ilacı olarak eczanelerde
reçetesiz satılmaktadır. Bu makalede intihar amacıyla melatonin
içen bir vaka sunduk

Abstract
Melatonin, also known chemically as N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine, is produced in the pineal gland from the precursor tryptophan and secreted into the blood. Its exogenous forms are used for the treatment of sleep disorders and jet lag. Melatonin is sold as a sleep drug at pharmacies in Turkey and throughout the world. In this study, we present a case of attempted suicide by the ingestion of melatonin
