A comparison of the effects of high voltage pulsed current and lumbar stabilization exercises on physical performance

Year 2015, Volume: 2 Issue: 1 - Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 1 - 7, 23.07.2016

Abstract

Purpose: This study was performed to compare the effects of high voltage pulsed current and lumbar stabilization exercise on physical performance. Method: This study was included 30 healthy female subjects whose mean age was 20.4±0.9 years. The subjects were randomly divided into three groups. Lumbar stabilization exercises was applied to the first group (N=10), high voltage pulsed current with “abdominal hallowing” was applied to the second group (N=10), and the third group (N=10) was served as the control group. The physical performance level was assessed using repeated trunk flexion, repeated sit up, and 50 ft (15 m) walk before and after six weeks. Results: The physical performance level of group 1 and 2 improved significantly after six weeks (p<0.05), but a significant difference was not found between groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: Lumbar stabilization exercise programs and high voltage pulsed current can be used effectively to increase deep muscle function, and improve physical performance level. It is suggested that the lumbar stabilization exercises should be performed as long as three months to be more effective on physical performance level

Yüksek voltaj kesikli akım ve lumbar stabilizasyon egzersizlerinin fiziksel performans üzerine etkilerinin karşılaştırılması

Year 2015, Volume: 2 Issue: 1 - Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 1 - 7, 23.07.2016
