Abstract

Determining the relationship between ergonomic risks and musculoskeletal disorders of workers in the textile industry

Year 2023, Volume: 10 Issue: 2, 138 - 146, 30.08.2023

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the ergonomic risk for the working posture of textile sector workers and to examine the connection between musculoskeletal system disease.
Methods: In the study of 131 volunteer textile workers, demographic and identificatory data of the participants were recorded. The ergonomic risk of working posture was evaluated by Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA). Frequency, severity and, effects of musculoskeletal disorders on working capacity were questioned with Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ) during a whole week.
Results: When data was analyzed, the workers were found to be at high risk. Average CMDQ value was found to be 220. It was revealed that there was a low moderate positive correlation between REBA and CMDQ scores (p<0.001, rho=0.33).
Conclusion: As the working posture of individuals becomes risky, their exposure to musculoskeletal disorders also increases.
