METABOLIC EFFETCS OF RESTRICTED ENERGY INTAKE

Year 2023, Volume: 6 Issue: 3, 73 - 78, 29.12.2023

Abstract

Obesity is an important public health problem whose prevalence is increasing day by day. Over the years, various functional foods, diet types, and surgical interventions have been involved in the treatment of obesity. One of these methods is limited energy intake. In the treatment of obesity, the focus is often on the restriction of energy intake. Restriction of energy intake has been implemented for over 500 years in order to increase both life expectancy and quality. Restricting energy intake is a nutritional approach that reduces calorie intake without malnutrition. Along with this restriction, it has been determined that positive effects on both hormonal and health are seen in the body. As a result of limited energy intake, oxidative stress damage in the body, insulin and leptin levels decrease, and ghrelin and adiponectin levels increase. It has a healing effect on diseases such as cancer and metabolic syndrome. The aim of this review is to evaluate the metabolic effects of limited energy intake in the light of current literature.

KISITLI ENERJİ ALIMININ METABOLİK ETKİLERİ

Year 2023, Volume: 6 Issue: 3, 73 - 78, 29.12.2023
