Katılım Endeksi’nden Çıkarılan Hisselerin Fiyat Tepkileri: Borsa İstanbul Üzerine Bir Olay Çalışması

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Borsa İstanbul Katılım Endeksi’nden çıkarılan şirketlerin hisse senedi fiyatlarının kısa vadeli tepkilerini incelemektedir. Araştırmada, 2024–2026 yılları arasında gerçekleşen dört farklı endeks güncelleme dönemi esas alınmış ve analizlerde olay çalışması (event study) yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Her bir dönem için olay penceresi olarak belirlenen beş günlük süre (−2, −1, 0, +1, +2) içinde şirketlerin günlük getirileri ayrıntılı biçimde analiz edilmiş; böylece hem duyuru öncesindeki olası erken tepkiler hem de duyuru sonrasındaki fiyat hareketleri birlikte değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, Katılım Endeksi’nden çıkarılma kararları çoğu durumda yatırımcılar tarafından olumsuz bir gelişme olarak algılanmış, özellikle olay günü ve sonrasındaki günlerde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde negatif anormal getiriler (AR) ve kümülatif anormal getiriler (CAAR) gözlenmiştir. Bu bulgu, endeksten çıkarılan hisselerde kısa vadede belirgin bir satış baskısının oluştuğunu ve yatırımcıların portföylerini katılım finans ilkelerine göre yeniden düzenlediklerini göstermektedir. Bununla birlikte, bazı dönemlerde sınırlı düzeyde pozitif fiyat hareketlerinin de ortaya çıktığı tespit edilmiş; bu durum yatırımcı davranışlarının homojen olmadığını, piyasa koşullarına ve genel ekonomik görünüme bağlı olarak farklılaştığını ortaya koymuştur. Sonuç olarak, Katılım Endeksi’nden çıkarılma haberleri, özellikle İslami hassasiyete sahip yatırımcıların portföy tercihlerinde belirleyici bir unsur olarak hisse fiyatlarını etkileyebilmekte; bu da katılım finans piyasasının Türkiye sermaye piyasaları içinde giderek artan bir ağırlığa ve görünürlüğe sahip olduğunu göstermektedir.

Price Reactions to Removals from The Participation Index: An Event Study on Borsa Istanbul

Abstract

This study examines the short-term price reactions of companies removed from the Borsa Istanbul Participation Index. Using the event study methodology, four distinct index revision periods between 2024 and 2026 were analysed in order to capture the immediate market response to exclusion announcements. For each period, a five-day event window (−2, −1, 0, +1, +2) was defined, and firms’ daily returns were examined to identify abnormal price movements surrounding the removal decision. The findings reveal that removal announcements are generally perceived negatively by investors, as significant negative abnormal returns (AR) and cumulative abnormal returns (CAAR) were observed, particularly on and after the event day. This indicates the presence of short-term selling pressure on stocks removed from the index and suggests that investors react quickly to such announcements by adjusting their portfolios. However, limited positive movements were also detected in certain periods, suggesting that investor behaviour is not homogeneous and may vary depending on overall market conditions and firm-specific factors. Overall, the results show that exclusion from the Participation Index can influence stock prices as a key factor in the portfolio decisions of Islamic investors, highlighting the growing importance of Islamic finance within Turkey’s capital markets and the increasing relevance of participation-based investment benchmarks.

Réactions des Cours des Actions Retirées de l’indice de Participation : Une Étude d’événement Sur la Bourse d’Istanbul

Abstract

Cette étude analyse les réactions à court terme des cours des actions des entreprises retirées de l’indice de participation de la Bourse d’Istanbul à partir de quatre périodes de mise à jour de l’indice entre 2024 et 2026, en utilisant la méthode de l’étude d’événement sur une fenêtre de cinq jours (−2, −1, 0, +1, +2). Cela permet d’observer les réactions avant, pendant et après l’annonce. Les résultats empiriques montrent que les décisions de retrait sont, dans la plupart des cas, perçues négativement par les investisseurs. Des rendements anormaux (AR) et des rendements anormaux cumulés (CAAR) négatifs et statistiquement significatifs sont observés le jour de l’événement et dans les jours suivants, révélant une pression vendeuse à court terme sur les actions concernées. Toutefois, l’étude met également en évidence que cette réaction n’est pas uniforme selon les périodes. Dans certaines phases, des mouvements positifs limités sont observés, indiquant que les comportements des investisseurs ne sont pas homogènes et varient selon les conditions générales du marché et la performance financière des entreprises exclues. En conclusion, les annonces de retrait de l’indice de participation apparaissent comme un facteur susceptible d’influencer de manière significative les cours des actions, notamment à travers les choix de portefeuille des investisseurs sensibles aux critères de la finance islamique. Ces résultats confirment le rôle croissant de la finance participative sur les marchés de capitaux turcs et soulignent que l’indice de participation constitue à la fois un indicateur financier et un reflet de préférences d’investissement fondées sur des considérations éthiques.
