Writing Rules

Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance (JIEF) is an open access academic journal that includes plagiarism scanning, pre-evaluation, blind review and editorial reading processes.

Articles submitted to the Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance (JIEF) must comply with the specified format. Otherwise, if it is found that the rules are not followed in the preliminary control phase, the article may be sent back to the author without forwarding it to the referees and may be requested to be edited or rejected outright.

Before submitting your application to the Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance (JIEF), please review the “Purpose and Scope” page of the journal. Out-of-scope manuscripts are not included in the evaluation process.

Language
The publication languages of the journal are Turkish, English and Arabic.

Publication Types:
Research Article: Original research articles are studies that have academic value and present original and scientific results on topics appropriate to the scope of the journal.
Review Article: These are articles that describe, discuss and evaluate the current state of knowledge or a topic and are expected to guide future studies.
Research Note: These are articles in which a subject is discussed in a scope and quality that does not reach the size of an article. Research notes are expected not to exceed 4000 words. Research notes are not taken into the refereeing process; they are evaluated by the editor and taken into the publication process. Research notes do not include Turkish and English abstracts. In addition to the Turkish title, the article should include an English title and 5-8 keywords in both languages.
Book Review: Reviews of studies published in the last 5 years are prioritized. Review articles are expected to be prepared by experts in the field. Only introductory and summary articles are not accepted. For book reviews, an original title (Turkish and English) and 5-8 keywords (Turkish and English) should be determined independently from the title of the book being reviewed.
Symposium/Workshop Presentation: These are articles that include the evaluation of national or international academic meetings. In the introductory articles, the academic contribution of the meeting should be addressed.

Article Submission

For the acceptance of articles, the DERGİPARK system provided by TÜBİTAK is used.

1. Manuscripts should be submitted through the Submit Manuscript system at https://dergipark.org.tr/jief. Manuscripts should be accompanied by a Cover Page indicating the type of article and including details about the article, the text file of the manuscript, and a Copyright Agreement Form signed by all authors.

2. The research to be submitted to the journal must be original and must not have been published or accepted for publication anywhere before.

3. Papers previously presented at a scientific meeting may be accepted, provided that this is clearly stated.

4. Information about the authors (name-surname etc.) should not be included in the main text submitted.

5. If there is more than one researcher in the articles, they should be added to the “Add Author” section of the second stage of the system.

6. Information about the authors of the article (title, name-surname, institution, institutional phone number and e-mail address, if any) should be sent in a separate file.

7. The works of authors who do not submit the Copyright Agreement Form will not be published.

8. All manuscripts submitted to the journal go through a double-blind peer-review process.

9. After the article is uploaded to the system, corrections may be requested in line with the reports from the referees.

10. The uploading of the articles to the system by the author is accepted as the application for publication of the article.

11. All legal responsibilities related to the articles published in the journal belong to the authors.

12. Manuscripts not accepted for publication will not be returned to their authors.

13. In cases where there is more than one author, the contribution of each author should be indicated and the document should be signed by the responsible author.

14. In articles published in the Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance (JIEF), all authors should be listed with their ORCID numbers. Authors are required to include their ORCID information on the cover page during submission. If you do not have an ORCID number, you can obtain it from the following link [http://orcid.org/register].

15. Members of the Editorial Board are subject to the journal's publication processes applicable to all authors for manuscript submissions.

16. More than one research article by the same author cannot be published in the same issue.

Manuscripts prepared in accordance with the journal's writing rules are accepted via the website https://dergipark.org.tr/jief and pre-acceptance, field editor review, referee assignment, revision, rejection and acceptance processes are carried out online. 

Title/Cover Page:

The Title/Cover Page must be uploaded as a separate page and the Title/Cover Page must contain the following information:

-Title of the article
-Category and type of article
-Name(s) and surname(s) of the author(s)
-Author(s) institutional information (institution, city, country)
-Email address(es) of the author(s)
-ORCID numbers of the author(s)
-Information on financial support, conflict of interest and acknowledgements.

General Formal Specifications

Studies should mainly include the following elements: Turkish title, abstract and keywords; English title, abstract and keywords; extended abstract, main text sections, references, tables and figures.

Abstract: At the beginning of the article, there should be an abstract of 150-250 words in Turkish and English, which briefly and concisely expresses the subject. One line space should be left under the abstract and keywords consisting of at least 5 and at most 8 words should be given in Turkish and English and should include at least 1 JEL code. The abstract text should be written in 10 font size, 1 line spacing without paragraph indentation. References, figure and table numbers should not be mentioned in the abstract.

Extended Abstract: In this practice to increase the international visibility of the studies, an extended abstract (EXTENDED ABSTRACT) of 1000-1500 words in English should be submitted for Turkish and Arabic studies. The extended abstract reflects the main discussions in the main sections of the article (Introduction/Literature, Methods, Results, Discussion/Conclusion, etc.).

Title: It should be compatible with the content and should be written in Times New Roman, 12 pt, capital and bold letters, centered.

Main Text:

Quantitative and qualitative studies should include Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion sections. The Method section must include subsections on Sample/Study Group, Data Collection Tools and Procedure. The model subsection should only be included if an original model is used.

The main text of your study;

In Microsoft Office Word program,

Times New Roman font

12 point,

1.5 line spacing (16x24cm format).

There should be 2.5 cm margins on the page edges and page numbers should not be given.

Paragraph indentation should not be made in the text of the article and 1 line (12 pt) space should be left between paragraphs. Subheadings can be used in the article, but should not be numbered.

Your paper should be between 5000-9000 words excluding references.

Tables and Figures: Tables and figures should be numbered and titled. Table/figure numbers and captions should be written at the top, centered in 11 pt. Table and figure captions should be italicized, 11-point font and the first letter of each word should be capitalized.

References / Bibliography:

The bibliography should start with a new page and should have the following features:

The Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance (JIEF) adopts the “American Psychological Association” 6th edition (APA 6th ed) citation system for citation and referencing. For information: https://apastyle.apa.org/6th-edition-resources

The bibliography should be placed at the end of the text with 11 font size and 1 line spacing. All references used in the text should be indicated in the Bibliography. Works that are not cited in the study are not included in the References. In articles written in languages other than Latin letters, the bibliography (references) written in Latin letters must be included.

References should be arranged in alphabetical order. Works of authors with more than one work should be listed in chronological order.

Citations and References: Our journal uses APA 6th edition citation format. Manuscripts submitted to the journal should be prepared in the American Psychological Association (APA) style in the reference system, footnote format and bibliography. You can automatically select APA Sixth Edition from the References tab in Microsoft Office Word program. You can add the sources you want from the Add Citation tab, and it will be added to your work as a citation within the study and as a Bibliography from the References tab at the end of the study.
