Abstract

RFID technology has been developing continuously since its first day and it offers very important advances to its users. RFID tags, which have a very important place in realizing the Internet of Things (IoT) concept, are actively used in many industrial areas today. The most important advantages of these tags are that they can store data, be read remotely, and be used with internet technology. In this paper, it is focused on a different usage aspect of RFID tags. It is aimed to increase the speed, capacity and efficiency by developing the cargo management systems currently used in the proposed system. As it is known, in traditional cargo management systems, barcode or QR code tags are used and these tags are read through a hand terminal. All operations performed in these systems are provided according to the logic of an employee reading the packages and transferring the data to the system in this way. In this proposed approach, it is aimed to use UHF-RFID tags instead of classic barcode or QR code labels. In the system, cargo shipment branches, transportation vehicles and transfer centers are equipped with UHF-RFID reader antennas, allowing the shipments to be read automatically, quickly and safely. With this proposed approach, significant efficiency has been achieved especially in terms of time. This efficiency was confirmed by simulation studies and the obtained results are presented in comparison with classical methods.
