ın, ağrısız şişliği ile karakterizedir. Hastalar, genellikle kozmetik amaçlı tedavi için başvururlar. Günümüzde uygulanan tedavi ağız içi veya dışı yaklaşım ile, man-dibulanın angulus bölgesini de içerebilecek şekilde, kasın bir kısmının rezeke edilmesi şeklindedir. Masseter hipertrofilerinde Botulinum toksin tip A kullanılmasının oldukça yeni bir tedavi şekli olarak, klasik cerrahi yöntemlere nazaran bazı avantajlar taşıyabileceğini Öne sürülmektedir. Bu çalışmada masseter kas hi-pertrofisi bulunan iki olgunun Botulinum

toksin tip A ile yapılan ve olumlu sonuçları izlenilen tedavileri sunulmuştur. Benign masseter hipertrofisi, Botulinum toksin tip A, mcdikal tedavi.

Abstract

Bilateral massetric hypertrophy is a benign condition characterised by a bilateral enlargement of the masseter muscle. It is rarely painful in itself and patients seek medical trea-mentfor cosmetic reasons. Treament to date has generally been by surgical reduction of bulk of masseter muscle with or without bony resection of the mandibular angle from either an intraoral or extraoral approach. It is being postulated that, using of botulinum toxin in the treament of bilateral masseteric hypertropy is a new and innovative method which might offers many advantages over conventional surgical treament. In this study two cases of bilateral masseteric hypertrophy which were successfully treated with botulinum toxin type A are presented.
