Abstract

ÖZET

Kök kanallarının boyunu ölçmek için elektrikli aletler geliştirilmiştir. Suzuki, Sunada ve Cash'ın araştırmalarıyla uygulanmasına başlanan bu aletler, bugüne kadar çeşitli araştırıcılar tarafından klinik araştırmalarda incelenmişlerdir. Başarı oranları % 85-90 arasındadır. Bu aletler, daha da geliştirilip, % 100 başarılı oldukları zaman, çok daha geniş uygulamalar yapılabilecektir.

SUMMARY

Various electronic devices used to locate the apical foramen in root canal length determinating have been introduced in the last few years. Sunada, in 1962, was able to determine a specific contant resistance at the radiographic apex, but he made no distinction between the radiographic apex and the apical foramen. Later studies have shown that the electrical resistance at the foramen is well-defined but slightly higher than at the radiographic apex.

Among the devices for electrometric root canal length determination, a distinction can be made between two main categories with different design features :

1 — Devices with an analog indicating meter-type instrument as indicator and with a build-in fixed (Rf) values as calibration basis.

2 — Devices with auidia-indication, which require individual calibration before each treatment.
