Cherubism; Bir olgu bildirisi

Abstract

ÖZET

3 yaşında erkek çocukta mandibulada bir yıl önce farkedilen bilateral simetrik ağrısız şişlik nedeniyle ve çocuğun ailesinin isteği üzerine sağ yana ameliyat yapıldı. Radyolojik olarak mandibulada kistik görünüm vardı. Damak ters «V» biçiminde olduğu halde, maksilla radyografisinde lezyon yoktu. Alkali fosfataz biraz artmıştı. Histolojik bulgular «fibröz displazinin osteolitik dönemi" ne uyuyordu.

Bir yıl sonra sağdaki eski ameliyat yeri estetik bakımdan düzelmiş durumdaydı. Bu nedenle çocuğun ailesi sol yana da ameliyat istedi.

Çocuğun babasında da cherubism varmış ve 12 yaşındayken ameliyat geçirmiş.

SUMMARY

A male patient 3 years ald was admitted to the hospital because of a bilateral painless symmetrical swelling of the mandible and a surgical treatment was performed on the right side for esthetical purpose due to his parents' application. The X-ray examination showed a cystic appearance. Radiography of maxilla showed no lesion, although the palate was «V» shaped. Alkali phosphatase was rather high, and histological findings fitted osteolytic period of fibrous dysplasia.

Since one year later operation site was esthetically recovered, the parents of the patient asked for a similar operation on the left side.

The patients father had cherubism which was operated when he was 12 years old.
