Abstract
SUMMARY
The general aspects of the ocular prosthesis were discussed in the present article. It was also emphasized the clinical problems of the patients with ocular prosthesis.
The function of confermer is
a) to form the socket of eye during healing.
b) to force the implant into the socket.
c) to hold the implant into the center of eye
d) to play a role as a differentiation between the bulbar and palpebral conjunctiva,
e) to obtain the room for a new ocular prosthesis.
An ocular prosthesis provides many advantages for the patients, after enucleation. They are used
1) to prevent the lose of shape of the lid.
2) to reestablish the movements of the lid.
3) to restore the directions of tears and secretion.
4) to eliminate the probability of irritation and soreness
5) to minimize the accumulation into the cavity,
6) to serve as a cosmetic purpose
7) to provide the symmetric appearance between the eyes.
