SİGARA İÇEN VE İÇMEYEN GENÇ BİREYLERDE BAZI TÜKÜRÜK ÖZELLİKLERİNİN KARŞILAŞTIRILMASI

Abstract

Düşük tükürük akış hızının, yüksek St. Mutans ve Laktobasil sayısının çürük oluşumu ve ilerlemesinde etkin olduğu
bilinmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 21-26 yaş arası dişhekimliği öğrencilerinde sigara içilmesinin, tükürük akış hızı,
tükürükteki St. Mutans ve Laktobasil sayısı üzerine etkisi olup olmadığının araştırılmasıdır. Çalışmada Ege Üniversitesi Diş
Hekimliği Fakültesi öğrencilerinden 25’er kişilik 2 grup oluşturuldu. Grup A; Sigara içme deneyimi hiç olmayan bireyler,
grup B; en az 3 yıldır sigara içen bireyler, grup B1; günde 10 tane ve daha az sayıda sigara içen bireyler, grup B2; günde 10
taneden daha fazla sayıda sigara içen bireylerden oluşturuldu. Klinik ağız muayeneleri sonucu bireylerin DMFT indeksleri
belirlendi. Çalışma gruplarına dahil edilecek bireylerin DMFT ortalamalarının birbirlerine yakın olmasına özen gösterildi.
Grupların uyarılmış tükürük örnekleri toplandı. Elde edilen örneklerden tükürük akış hızları hesaplandıktan sonra aynı
örneklerden St. Mutans ve Laktobasil sayımları gerçekleştirildi. Elde edilen verilerin istatistiksel analizlerinde Kruskal Wallis
testi ve Mann-Whitney testi kullanıldı. Sonuçlar anlamlılık p < 0,05 düzeyinde değerlendirildi. Yapılan istatistiksel
değerlendirmelerde; 21-26 yaş arası dişhekimliği öğrencilerinde sigara içilmesinin, tükürük akış hızı, tükürükteki St. Mutans
ve Laktobasil sayısı üzerindeki etkisi istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmamıştır. Ağız hijyenine düzenli olarak özen
gösterilmesi durumunda, sigara içmenin tükürük akış hızını, tükürükteki St. Mutans ve Laktobasil sayısını nasıl etkilediği
değerlendirilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın sonucunda, düzenli ve bilinçli ağız hijyeni uygulamakta olan genç bireylerde sigara
içmenin tükürük akış hızını, tükürükteki St. Mutans ve Laktobasil sayısını istatistiksel olarak anlamlı derecede değiştirmediği
görülmüştür. Ağız hijyenine dikkat edilmesi durumunda sigara içmenin çürük oluşumunu etkilemediği düşünülmektedir.
Ancak daha uzun süreli içiciliğin etkisi araştırılmalıdır.
