Abstract
Özet Toz püskürtme sistemi (TPS) tekniği ilk olarak diş kesimi için 1945'te geliştirilmiştir. Dental plak ve dışsal lekeleri temizleme amacı ile kullanılan TPS ilk olarak De Trey firması taralından 1977'de piyasaya sürülmüştür. TPS, basınçlı hava ile püskürtülen sodyum bikarbonat tozlarının yoğun su spreyi ile karışması prensibi ile işlev görür. 1977'den günümüze kadar yapılan çalışmalar sonucunda sistemin, yoğun dışsal lekeleri, dental plağı ve artık diştaşlanru uzaklaştırmada etkili olduğu, mine yüzeyini pürüzlendirdiğİ, kök yüzeyini aşındırdığı, yanlış uygulamalar sonucunda yumuşak dokular üzerinde doku hasarına neden olduğu ve restorasyonların cilasını bozduğu ortaya konmuştur. Sistem diğer geleneksel cilalama yöntemlerine göre zaman kazandırıcı ve daha az yorucudur. TPS'nin, derin fissür-ler, çukurcuklar ve aproksimal yüzeylerde aynca, orto-dontik braket taşıyan bireylerde daha iyi bir temizlik sağladığı görülmüştür. Çapraz enfeksiyon olasılığını elimine etmek amacı ile, kullanılacak olan aygıtın el parçası steril edilebilmeli ve fokal enfeksiyon riski olan bireylerde dikkatli kullanılmalıdır. Yine, aerosol etkisi nedeni İle solunum yetersizliği çeken, hipokale-mik bireylerde, kronik diare, böbrek yetmezliği hastalarında, uzun süreli steroid tedavisi görenlerde, elektrolit dengesini değiştirecek ilaç kullananlarda ve tuzdan yoksun diyet sürdüren kişilerde kullanılmamalıdır. Anahtar sözcükler: Toz Püskürtme Sistemi, Cila. Abstract The teclinique of the air-pozoder abrasive system (APS) for tooth preparation was first developed in 1945. The first commercially available APS for removal of dental stains andplaque is marketed by the firm De Trey in 1977. APS use pressurized air, water, and sodium bicarbonate against the surface of the tooth. According to studies, the APS is efficient in stain, dental plaque and residual calculus removal, produces roughness in tlie enamel surface and wear out the root surface, may cause soft tissue damage with inappropi-ate use and dulls the surface of polished restorations. APS is less time consuming and wearisome than conventional polishing techniques. APS also provides better cleaning in deep fissures, pits and approximal surfaces, and orthodonti-cally bracketed teeth. The handpiece of the device should be able to sterilise to control cross-infection and extreme care should be taken with the patients under focal infection risk. It is not indicated for patients on a sodium restricted diet, under long term steroid drug therapy or those with severe respiratory illnesses, chronic diarrhea, kidney insufficiency, hypokalemic patients and patients using drugs that can alter electrolyte balance.
