Chemical Structure of Water in Perlites And İts Effect to Expansion Characteristic

Abstract

Volcanic activities create rhyolite and rhyodacite type of acidic volcanites together with economic grade of perlite deposit in the west part of Anatolia. Thermogravimetric analyses on selected perlite samples from the deposits reveal that the volatile content in the perlites are between %2.5-5. There are three equilibrium stages of loss volatiles in perlitic rocks as 120 C\ 450 C° and 950 C°. Infrared spectrophotometer analyses indicate that the big amount of the water in perlites in present as moleculer H2O and rest in the from of Si-OH groups. The water molecules are trapped in the crystal lattice either by weak hydrogen bonds to the anion or by weak ionic bonds to the metal. The weak bonded water molecules release the rock at 450 C\ The small amount of remaining volatiles account for expansion characteristic of the rock.

Perlitler İçindeki Suyun Kimyasal Yapısı ve Bu Yapının Genleşme Özelliğine Etkisi

Abstract

Batı Anadolu'da yaygın olarak gelişen Miyosen yaşlı asit volkanizma riyolit ve riyodasit bileşimli kayaçlarla birlikte ekonomik perlit yataklarının da gelişimine neden olmuştur. Bu yataklardan seçilen bazı perlit örnekleri üzerinde yapılan termogravimetrik analizler, %2.5-5 oranında uçucu bileşen içerdiğini ve bu uçucuların serbest kalabilmesi için 120 C °, 450C° ve 950C ° olmak üzere 3 denge fazının varlığını ortaya koymuştur. Yapılan infrared spektrofotometre analizleri de bu perlitler içinde suyun büyük bir kısmının zayıf hidrojen bağları ile anyonlara veya zayıf iyonik bağlar ile metallere bağlı molekülar su, kalan kısmının da volkanik camın şebeke yapısında Si-OH formunda bulunan sıkı bağlı monomerik OH şeklinde olduğu göstermiştir. Kayaç içindeki gevşek bağlı su moleküllerinin tümünün 450 C °'de serbest kaldığı ve kalan az miktardaki sıkı bağlı suyun (Effektif Su) kayacın genleşme özelliği üzerinde etkili olduğu saptanmıştır.
